Considering that 95% of our mind consists of subconscious thoughts, reactions, patterns and decisions, there’s really no limit to how hypnosis can be used to start creating shifts in you and find creative ways to feel better. I am however a big believer in practising what you preach, and these topics are personally where I have most personal insight and experience:


Chronic Pain & Autoimmune Conditions

Hypnotherapy has proved to be very successful in treating chronic pain and inflammatory responses in the body.  Especially when it comes to irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis (even blushing), psoriatic arthritis and migraines.

With all these conditions, we’re of course talking about a physical manifestation - inflammation, stiff, swollen joints, aches and pains, redness. But what we also need to pay attention to, especially in conditions that are exacerbated by stress, is that they have a psychological component to them as well, not just a physiological one. It’s that psychological component that we are able to work with. 

Because as I’m sure you’ve noticed - the psychological component of the condition is actually quite big. The condition is not the same every day. Because your thoughts are not the same every day. On bad days it’s usually worse, on good days it’s better.

The way I'll be working with you when it comes to chronic conditions is to access the part of your subconscious mind that’s running this “pain programming” and then have a genuine discussion with it to see how much it’s willing to back off to.



Weight Management & Body Image

If you’re looking for a quick-fix, you might not want to keep reading. Sustainable and healthy weight management needs to be achieved over a suitable time period - but we can definitely figure out a way that’s effortless and feels good to you.

When it comes to weigh loss, the unconscious mind is just following directives. Because it’s rarely just about the food, it’s also what food represents to us - and that’s what we need to work with. Most of us have a very emotional relationship with our bodies and what we put into them.

Maybe eating is the only time you feel good? Maybe it’s a distraction from emotional issues in our lives… or just plain old boredom? Maybe it’s the only thing we feel we can control in our life? Maybe it’s protection from objectification, a silent rebellion against a culture that dictates beauty through the cover of magazines and social media influencers? When you grew up, did dad give you a little treat to cheer you up when you were sad? Maybe grandma baked the best biscuits every time you came over and they somehow feel synonymous with cosy unconditional love? When these are our true feelings about food it’s of course hard to give that up!

Hypnotherapy can help gain insight into our behaviour and choices around food and assist with changing the emotional responses that often lead to overeating or other unhelpful self-medicating behaviours. Getting your unconscious onboard and in line with your goal is key here, it will make it easier to shift that weight once and for all without putting it back on again a few months later.

Irrational Fears & Phobias

In the UK it’s estimated that around 10 million people have one or more phobias - so if you’re one of them you’re definitely not alone! It’s also said that the only two innate fears humans have are the fear of loud noises and falling (not heights). Everything else is learnt. Which is excellent news for us as that means we can get rid of it! The brain already has everything it needs to heal whatever it is that’s bothering you. It just needs a bit of guidance to get out of that fear loop.

Because continuing to avoid certain (irrational) things out of fear just tends to feed the fear long term unfortunately, and every time we say no or go out of our way to steer clear of something because of fear, we reconfirm to ourselves that it wasn’t safe or that we can’t handle it. Living like this can feel very limiting and I’d love to help you get out of that.

What we’re doing in a phobia/fear session is quite gentle, you don’t have to experience the particular fear for long. We just need to get an idea of how your brain represents these phobia memories to you and how they are “stored”. Once we know that we’ll be able to gently change them together so that the next time they come up they’ll feel different, and you won’t have that involuntary reaction anymore.
